2 Year Old Blanding's Turtle

Check out this 2 year old Blanding’s turtle our biologist found at Sherburne National Wildlife Refuge in Minnesota! These turtles aren’t typically seen until they start moving to uplands once they’ve reached maturity at 16-20 years. This is the youngest Blanding’s turtle that has been found on the refuge. Age can be determined by counting the growth rings on the bottom of the shell.
