Ohrback Lake, High Rock Park, Staten Island NY
I was intrigued to stumble across this floating platform containing a couple of tattered old swivel chairs, at the edge of this secluded lake in the middle of High Rock Park. Indeed, I only figured out it was floating it as I tried to step onto the platform to get a closer angle, and discovered (as I almost lost my balance) the mooring rope that was tying the whole structure to the shore.
The whole construction looked completely unseaworthy to me. Someone nautically-minded please put me out of my misery: is it just cheaper to tie it to the shore than build a proper supporting structure (probably), or is this thing supposed to actually go out on the water?!
