Faxon, Oklahoma.

We were lost again. Trying to find a new route to Duncan from Frederick, Oklahoma. (There isn't one.) We happened upon a town that I've never heard of, within a half-hour's drive from where I have lived for 30 years. Faxon, Oklahoma. I am sure the residents of that quiet village are quite proud of their home-town but unless we had been lost, we would never have happened upon it. It is not on our map.

The thing that stopped us was this building, visible from the highway. It lends itself to many questions not the least of which is: What happened here?

There are windows blocked in, windows changed for a curious round fixture. It seems to be of poured concrete construction. Sturdy. Renovations were started and unfinished. Painting was started and incomplete.

Three theater seats sit under the canopy on the left. There is a pile of rubble near the center post. There is a "hotel" sign barely visible just above white paint on the right wall. There are mattresses visible through the round window under the canopy.

Questions. Imagination needs questions, among other things.
