Landlocked Lighthouse

    Newer Older

Providence Lighthouse--the largest inland lighthouse in the United States. It has a light that is illuminated at night, but it is not near a body of water and is not an aid to navigation. The tower height is 88ft. and it is located in Cedar City, Utah.

This photo was taken on a gray and overcast day after the snow was done falling in MAY--but then it turned around and fooled us and snowed in JUNE!!

Love lighthouses and a great memory of mine growing up and visiting summers near Duluth, Minnesota and Lake Superior where we saw many Lighthouses .
Great photo and love the colors.

Wonderful catch and story. I, too, was under the illusion that one only found lighthouses at water's edge.

I drive past this all the time and wonder about it, so strange. Love the sky, you'd never know it was landlocked. :)

Excellent shot Jodi.. I wonder why they built a lighthouse when it's not near the sea...

This is so nice. The lighthouse almost looks like a cutout from a b/w photo.
