Old house, Mount Hutt, Canterbury, New Zealand

I'm puzzled over the destruction of the chimney. I had assumed that the upper section of the chimney was a victim of the Canterbury earthquakes of 2010 and 2011, as many other old chimneys fell at that time. Photos from others show that the chimney was intact in 2007 and 2008. But the top of the chimney does not exist in the photos of Warwick Robinson, in 2009, preceding the earthquakes. Perhaps the chimney was a victim of the trees growing on either side?
