Orange Ladybird

The Orange Ladybird ~ Halyzia 16-guttata has a very striking colouration, with a bright orange base colour, baring a variable number (n = 12-16) of cream coloured spots and ranges from 4-6mm in size. Commonly found on deciduous trees, particularly sycamore and ash and feeds on mildew. The pronotum and border of the elytra (wing casing) are translucent. They have become increasingly more comon over recent years, although it is always a pleasure to photograph them.
