Lada VAZ-2107 Police Car, Moscow 1999

    Newer Older

    From Wikipedia:

The VAZ-2105, VAZ-2104 and VAZ-2107 (collectively known as the Lada Riva in most Western European markets) are a series of medium-sized family cars built by Russian car manufacturer AvtoVAZ, introduced in 1980 in the Soviet Union, and progressively in other European markets through the early 1980s and sold in both saloon and estate versions.

Today they are generally referred to as the Lada Classic series, being derived from the original Fiat 124 platform which has been the now-iconic mainstay of the AvtoVAZ lineup since the company's foundation in the late 1960s.

It is the third best selling automobile platform of all time after the Volkswagen Beetle and the Ford Model T.

Beautifully captured my friend, first class photography. Amazing these little cars, the over priced exotic cars around the world that come and go, endlessly breaking down In their own fashionable way, and these little basic Lada's just keep going, one of the most reliable cars on the planet, very strong as well. I always liked the square shape of the Fiat and Lada, plus the estate version, It's good to still see a normal car with a boot (Trunk). A great shot my friend, many thanks for sharing. Kelvin. :)

Growing up in Slovakia in the 1980s these were the 2nd most popular cars on the road.
Naturally the Skoda was number 1.

Nice Zhiguli. The Milizia also drove those black Volga cars at full speed on the special lanes reserved for them or high ranking officials.
Is this a Canon shop ?

A very nice setting !. Heard the one about the Lada owner who went into a Moscow parts store and asked for a Hub Cap for his Lada? The attendant, paused for a second and then replied, " OK then ,that seems to be a fair swop"

Ever see the Levis Jeans Commercial where the kid in Prague trades his pair for a Trabant?
