Kentish Plover #103

Kentish Plover | Charadrius alexandrinus | Pulicut backwaters, Tamilnadu, India | Mar '14

To (still) name a bird based on a location where it has not been seen defies logic. This plover has not been seen in Kent,UK for over a century but here you go Kentish Plover.

Wikipedia states that breeding birds of Indian Subcontinent lacks the rufus cap on the head. But this one has started to show rufus colors (just behind the eyes). Hopefully we can track this one over the next few weeks and see if he gains the "cap"
