When in flight, gone is the Christmas card Robin. What is usually seen as a rather plump bird is transformed into a streamlined aerodynamic wonder.
Amongst the small woodland birds that I have observed, the Robin is something of a loner.
It is amongst the other birds but does not seem to flock with them. I have seen them drive away other Robins instantly without hesitation.
I once watched two Robins fight, a spectacle which lasted for maybe ten seconds as they locked in battle.
