WORKSPACE 2.0

Newer Older

I felt like sharing my new Lego Workspace i finally finished building.
Instead of buying something and trying to adapt it to my awkward shaped appartment and growing Lego collection i decided to design and build something myself (which is what i end up doing with everything in my appartment)

Anyway here is the result: a long table (1.6m) with equally long drawers fielding a battery of almost 50 IKEA 'Glis' sorting boxes. The building area itself features a rotating tunrtable made from clear plexiglass and an oversized horizontal ball bearing mechanism. The orange painting is for the sheer fun of it :]

Pictures are terrible because its incredibly dark and been raining for almost 2 months straight.

Ironsniper Trust me i been there ;)

ƒernald I can assure you that wasn't the goal of this post ;)

.Tromas Thaks ... someday ill post my computer setup... its about double the spacegeekyness of this :D

brickmack I like when it rains tbh cuz it cleans this polluted city a but ... but i would love to have the feeling that it is summertime -even for a few minutes!

Classy, but where did you get the ball-bearing turn table.

  7. Shamisenfred 54 months ago | reply

Meme mon bureau a LEGO n´est pas aussi cool... Jalousie!

  8. Pierre E Fieschi 54 months ago | reply

buriedbybricks The ball bearing turntable was found at a hardware store for about 15$

    Great workspace!

Very clean and organized. I'm going to have to start taking some notes.

That turntable is a damn good idea. Love the drawers as well.

Is there anyway to see a pic of the complete desk? I dig the drawers but can't make them out too well. Thanks if you do.

Even your workspace is cool and futuristic! I'm so envious!

Here is already XXII century :)

i love the long drawers but where do your knees go when you build?

  16. M Exsurgent 41 months ago | reply

Probably stands, I'm not even in the same building league as Pierre but I'm always up and looking for pieces so a chair would be useless for me

  17. Pierre E Fieschi 41 months ago | reply

Marc Exactly, i never seat when building because i'm always looking for stuff.
The new version of this i'm designing now is actually even higher. This one was a bit low and after entire weekends building on it , my back was hurting ;) Another thing i'm gonna implement in the new version is a seperate place for the model being assembled and all the pre-assembling-sorting-tablescraping :D

hmm, standing you say...not sure if my legs could take that... i stand all day at work, if i'm not running up and down stairs a thousand times or climbing ladders or humping material back and forth. Nah, when i get home, i wanna good sit. But i could see a nice, well-lubed chair on castors and some long drawered cabinets around to the sides. i have some of mine in wheeled carts so i can pull the bulk pieces around where i need them.

Shane The habbit of standing while doing stuff comes from painting I guess. When studying architecture I was also standing for building models, cutting and gluing stuff together. I found I had a better grip (grasp??) on my tools ;) Also i sit all day at work (which sucks) :p
