India Building, Liverpool

Liverpool City Center Office building

Designed by Herbert Rowse, Rowse won the commission in competition. Home to the Passport Office today, originally built between 1924 and 1932 for the Blue Funnel shipping Line at a cost of £1,250,000. India Building is very monolithic typical of North American architecture of the 1920s. During the war it was badly damaged, and restored under Rowse's supervision.
