Sharksucker (Echeneis naucrates); Pompion Wall drift dive, max. depth 91 feet, bottom time 55 minutes; Ranguana Caye, Belize

Blamed by Pliny the Elder for the defeat of Mark Antony at the Battle of Actium and indirectly, for the death of Caligula, remoras were believed to be able to stop a ship from sailing by attaching themselves to the bottoms of the ships ("remora" means "delay" in Latin), so when this guy followed me along the reef for about 15 minutes, it seems it may have been intent on attaching itself to me instead of a shark!
