Lucky clover usually refers to a find of a 4 leaf clover since they normally have only three. This clover in my front yard is lucky for another reason entirely. In my neighborhood the lawn care is done by our homeowners association. Last week was when weed killing chemicals were put on the front lawns. I noticed the workers coming down the street and spraying, then looked at my lawn full of clover and felt a bit sad to see it go. Later that day I saw that the crew had only got up to the house next door before stopping for the day, indicated by tiny flags they put in the lawns to show chemicals have just been laid. I was relieved to have my clover for one more day. A few days later my hubby noticed that our lawn was full of clover and the neighbors all had uniform grass lawns. He said somethings wrong, it looks like everyone got treated except us. Oh, let it go I said, it's not really weeds anyway it's lovely clover. Hmmm...he looked at me suspiciously for a moment and said It's strange how you love clover and here we are with a lawn full of it after treatment...lucky you. Really it's the clover that got lucky. I took a couple of the flags from down the street and placed them in my front yard so they skipped us :)
