Gallipoli Peninsula, Turkey

Gallipoli was the site of a 8 month battle during WWI that saw the deaths of 43,000 British, 15,000 French, 8,700 Australians, 2,700 New Zealanders and 1,370 Indians and 20,000 Turks. Today, the Peninsula is a National Park with many cemeteries and tributes to the fallen.
