This is all kinds of awesome.

Well I've been looking at your stuff for the longest time on TBB and now I finally got around to posting on your stream! This is probably the best giant robot I have ever seen! I love his hands and his face the best!

Each one of your creations looks like you had so much fun building it!
  • lego addict 6y

King Kong has got nothing on you. Great job!

Thanks to everyone for the nice words! I really appreciated everyone stopping by and taking a look.

Apocalust - I actually used the Zoids' Iron Kong as a bit of a reference for the build. i was a big Zoids fan growing up!

Cole Blaq - The entire build started from that "eye piece". Just wanted to see if I could build it into a face. When I was done it looked like an ape to me so I went with it.

J4ke - Don't feel too sorry for the primalBOTS, this guy is a friend.

Nice. Now, where's the button that makes fire breathe out of its nose or eyes?
  • Andrew Becraft 6y

Zoids! That certainly explains some of my nostalgic reaction to these. I didn't have too many, but I grew up playing with Zoids (along with LEGO, of course).

    Very cool.
I remember seeing your primalBOTS before, now.
You've got lots of brilliant creations.

I feel like I've said this before, and I think maybe I have on TBB, but have you ever read Doug Chiang's 'Robota'?

These are strikingly similar. I'm not trying to convict you of forgery or anything, I just think they're damn cool.

@Repoort - Yep I've seen the book before. I'd say my influences come from a lot of sources especially toys I had as a kid and specifically Zoids. I used the Iron Kong Zoids' model for reference when building this MOC. The little guys are designed solely from pieces available to me at the time of building. The head piece I was using to build speeder bikes and the spears were from some royal guards. If I had had more variety of LEGO when I sat down to build them then they might have come out looking quite different. Plus I have a hard time getting an idea in my head to come out in LEGO form. Most of the MOCs you see are the results of happy little accidents. :)

Have you read "Mechanika" by Chiang, rongYIREN? Some really nice ideas in it, buT I'm more partial to Sparth. I love happy accidents. Your robo guys are so inspirational!
  • rongYIREN 6y

@Apocalust - Haven't read "Mechanika". I knew Chiang was a designer for some of the Star Wars prequels but I just found out he was responsible for the battle droids, which might turn me against him, ha ha. Yeah, not a prequel hater but not really a fan either...
  • kreezzalee 6y

Don't worry, we won't hold it against you either. I doubt Chiang's design for the battle droids is the sole reason the prequels sucked.
  • WhateverMars 4y

Wow I love it, especially the little guy:)

This thing looks ready to kick some a**.
