Bronckhorst, Gelderland, Netherlands - 3598
Today was lovely summer weather, so on a bike for a trip along the river IJssel in Gelderland, the Netherlands. At Brummen with the ferry over the river IJssel to Bronckhorst.
Is it a village or is it a town? Officially Bronkhorst is the smallest town in the Netherlands because it has city rights, but in terms of size and appearance, this Gelderland town with only a handful of houses is really a village.
Thanks to the city rights that Bronkhorst once received, it still has a certain curiosity value. It is located in the floodplains of the IJssel with a ferry to Brummen. The IJsseldijk is perfect for an alternative cycling route from Arnhem to Deventer, making it a busy cycling junction. In a number of the houses nowadays there are also restaurants where you can go for a nice lunch with an emphasis on sticky products or for a beer. The terraces are full here, especially on a summer day.
