Waiting for a meal

California kingsnakes are extremely important in the southern California coastal environment. They feast on mice and keep the rattlesnake populations at bay. Make sure you you say "great job!" and give them some knuckles next time you see one. This California Kingsnake was cruising along a grassy hill when I found him. He was extremely mellow while I photographed him. Then we went our seperate ways. I should have gotten his address to send him a couple of head shots.
