Another one of the puppies that my friend, a volunteer puppy breeder for Canine Companions for Independence, is about ready to send on their way to the volunteer puppy raiser that will have him for the next year and a half. The puppy raiser teaches them a set of basic commands and works on them with socialization skills. After that, the dogs go to one of the five regional centers that CCI has around the country to learn the specific tasks that they will need to know to work with the person that they will be placed with.
Many of you know that I am now volunteering my time and talents as a photographer to this wonderful organization. CCI is the largest provider of companion dogs and does so free of charge. It operates solely from private and corporate donations.
