Anchored off of Sausalito in San Francisco Bay is the megayacht 'A', which is owned by Russian billionaire Andrei Melnichenko and his wife Aleksandra Nikolic...the name is in reference to the first inital of both first names. The 'A' measures 390' (119 meters) and is powered by two MAN RK 280 engines and cruises at 23 kts, with a fuel burn at cruise of approximately 700gph, while it is reported to cost $500,00USD to fuel the 'A'.
Designed by Phillipe Starck and architect Martin Francis, 'A' was built by the German company Blohm & Voss, the same shipbuilder that built the German battleship 'Bismark' for Adolph Hitler. The 'A' has six guest suites with moveable walls that can be converted to four larger suites if desired. Each suite has an ensuite head that features a stainless steel whirlpool tub.
The 'A' has two swimming pools and multiple plasma television sets throughout. It has numerous security cameras and a fingerprint recognition security system onboard. The master suite is located on the upper deck and features a bed that rotates...the suite is bomb resistant.
From this shot straight on of the stern, the true size of the vessel is not readily apparent given it's shape and dimensions.
