Posing in the marigold

Ichneumon wasp

My first encounter with this particular wasp was about a week ago, since then I have found many! They like to hunt in my marigold flowers and various herbs.

They can be seen using their long antenna to hunt for caterpillars and aphids. I have found these particular wasps quite easy to get close to, they don't mind me holding onto a leaf or flower to steady my camera and seem almost pleased to be photographed.

A lovely little wasp and ever so friendly, even find them walking onto my hand on a few occasions.

The yellow background is a marigold flower that this little one was found resting in.

Taken with MPe-65mm macro lens. 2 shot stack to get both eyes and mouth in focus.
