The Shard in blue / London Bridge

Check it out on black or at 1280 x 850 pixel if you like.

About this shot

Shot from Bankside, Thames path west (how many times have I been down that road in a week - I dunno!?) over the London Bridge, another wonderful evening.

I wrecked my remote cable the last evening in London, so I couldn't use bulb mode. To get the light/exposure I wanted I had to use ISO 400 instead of ISO 100 - no problem at all with the D700.

*Phew!*

I love 'The Shard' - I hope it will offer an amazing view and be accessible for the general public.

At 310 m (1,017 ft) tall, it will be the second-tallest free-standing structure in the United Kingdom.

Sort of Technical Talk: It was almost impossible to avoid over exposure at the London Bridge with the rail of light along the edge of the bridge. Could have been done with bracketing and HDR treatment though. But I got a little fed up with HDR lately, so I went with the single RAW shot this time, tweaked in Photoshop CS5's RAW engine. To get away from the *sodium* skies I kicked it into the blue/purple(ish) direction. :-)
