A Man Called "Hitler"
This once magnificent, but now old and dilapidated mansion caught my eye while I was out taking pictures this morning in downtown Shreveport. This mansion looks like a haunted house that you see in the movies. I walked up the concrete stairs to the front porch of this house and was surprised to find this homeless man living there. He introduced himself as "Hitler" and after a few minutes, he willingly agreed to let me take his picture in front of "his" house. He was wearing at least two shirts, two hats, and a jacket even though the temperature was already in the 80's with the high temperature expected to reach 102 degrees. The guy never asked for money, a ride, or anything else. When I got ready to go back to my car, I gave him the ten dollars that I had on me that I was going to use to buy breakfast. I knew that he needed the money more than I needed the extra calories. I hope that this man makes it though the extreme heat that we're having at the present time.
