"I have always looked upon decay as being just as wonderful and rich an expression of life as growth." ~Henry Miller

    Theme: Old/ Abandoned/ Decaying

This morning I headed out in my jeep with a subject already in mind...an old, abandoned service station in a little town called Lavoy. My husband and I had seen the Dorentral Garage last summer on a bike trip. At the time, I grabbed a few quick shots of it and knew that I would return again to see it another day. So with that in mind, I drove about 100 km east of Edmonton with my iPod blaring and a latte in hand. Unfortunately, when i arrived in Lavoy, I was saddened to see an empty lot where the service station once stood. Progress, I guess.

On my drive back towards Edmonton, I spotted this old house sitting off of a secondary highway. I loved how worn and weathered it looked. I saw such character in the old boards and shingles. I hope it won't disappear like the garage in Lavoy...

I'm younger than that now, and 30 other people added this photo to their favorites.

Such a wonderful find and capture for abandoned! I love the soft, almost muted tones of the image - adds to the feel of it.

No idea if they put on shows of any kind at this old house but if they did then surely the last performer must've brought the house down!!! Beautifully taken shot...
