I love how soft these big gritty dunes look in this light. But I also love the fine texture that you can also see if you look closely. Dunes are in constant motion as dust accumulates on the shallow wind-facing side and gradually tumble over the steep slipface side seen here. It can take many many years before something that goes in one side of a dune appears out the other. I love the dark patch on the face of the dune here. It is some material of a different colour than what most of the dune is made. When did it go in? Where is it from? I'm sure the answer is blowing in the wind...
