Boiled White rice

This is the staple food for most South-Indian people and also in several parts of North India as well. Rice is usually prepared after removing the husk(the brownish cover of the rice seeds)

Two major types of rice exist : white rice and red rice. The red rice is not so popular except in the west coast. The color is actually White But has a reddish tint to it. Then there are several more types of sub-catagories , of which the "Basmati rice" is quite popular.

 

"Tingalavre Sar Upkari" is an accompaniment for this boiled rice.
