Conker - Horse Chestnut

Aesculus hippocastanum. Apparently the fruits of the horse chestnut trees were first used to play "conkers" in the 18th Century. Before that, the game was played with hazelnuts, cobnuts or snail shells.

Found whilst walking the other day, but thinking about it, I haven't seen many horse chestnut trees at all this year!
