A Night to Dance with Water

I was so happy with the last dance images that I had and wanted to continue the series. These images took quite a lot of planning and visualizing beforehand and a lot of equipment. Working in the dark poses a lot of challenges. One of which is obviously zero visibility. At one point I used a front light attached to my head to help the autofocus find Rie in the dark. Unfortunately the camera blocked the very useful light beam. This session demanded everything I have in terms of technique, effort and equipment and the fall out rate was high. Still so very much for me to learn!

I have always had a lot of respect for athletes and dancers and after this session my respect climbed even higher. Rie is a professional dancer and she spent two hours in the water, most of the time completely wet. Not only is she a wonderful and gifted dancer but also a very tough cookie as well. I can't recall how many times she patiently and with a lot of grace repeated the moves. Thanks a lot Rie for making these images possible!
