The Green Building is in what I am told is called the "NuLu" area. It was once a dry goods store, and had fallen into disuse and disrepair when Doug Pierson, an L.A.-based architect with an office called "form, environment, research (fer) studio," began the renovation a few years back. Peirson worked for leading architect Frank Gehry, and it shows; he likes to express the edges of plywood and otherwise underscore the use of modest materials. Having said that, there is nothing cheap about this building.

I love the blending of new with the old existing structure here.
"NuLu", in case you're not familiar, is an acronym for "New Louisville".
