Cedar Waxwing: Eating some berries

FWR Dickson, a fantastic trail to capture various birds.

This morning I thought I would try my hand at birds in flight (I still haven't gotten acceptable results yet) - but I did try two new features on the D90.

The first being HIGH ISO NR to see if I could shoot over ISO 800 with acceptable results - and as you can imagine, I have never gotten a picture of Cedar Waxwing so my disappointment would have been EXTREMELY high if these didn't turn out (disregarding the fact that I may have not been doing it properly either... :p).

The second feature I was trying, 3D-Tracking Auto-focus - it loves to hunt if there is a lot in the scene being composed, but an awesome job for catching those little chickadees when they try to fly from their branch quickly.

I was lucky enough to be swarmed by cedar waxwings while they bled every tree of berries in sight - enough time for me to snap a couple hundred pictures...
