      umh. I prefer not to see any distraction at all and maybe a welcome thing would be the possibility to go straight to NeXT or previous article like you see in many wordpress blog. Always in a disappearing menu. I mean: two invisible icons at the corners in the "reader view". That I think d be interesting.

      os.kr: I also thought it would be cool if the menu only appeared when you hovered over to the side, otherwise, like you said, no distractions.

      Blacking out existing article—like what Safari is already doing—sounds fine; but having the reading area occupy its own space—like what Frank Chimero comped—would be even better!

      This could be a personal preference, but I think these line lengths are too long for reading. But that's just me.

      The measure on mine is a little long for me. It was quick, and I think I was subconsciously adjusting for Engadget's stupidly large paragraph blocks. Without the inserted paragraph and longer measure, the entire screen would have been one paragraph.
