Mornby says: Alan Cordova's comments on his photo:
"Originally called the Sviblov
Tower after a boyar family who had their
Kremlin residence not far from this
corner, it was rechristened the Water
Tower when a pumping device was
installed in it during the 17th century.
The pump supplied the Krelmin palaces
and upper gardens with water through
lead pipes...It is just over 186 feet
high (or 200 feet counting the ruby
star, added since the revolution)."
Mornby says: kees straver's comments on his photo.
"One of the most amazing and
beautiful building in the world lies op
the other side of the planet. The
construction of this building started in
1959 and was completed 14 years later in
1973. The great mind behind this
architectural wonder was the Danish
architect Jørn Utzon, how never got to
complete his masterwork do to a dispute
with premier Robert Askin of New South
Wales in 1965. It's the Sydney Opera
House in Australia."
