The MGB was first launched as a Roadster in may 1962, followed by the GT (Coupe) in 1965.

The 1967 updates were sufficient for BMC to call the car a Mk.II, changes included, syncromesh on all gears and ammended ratios. A Borg-Warner Automatic option, new rear axle, an alternator replacing the dynamo, changes to the floorpan to accomodat the new gearbox, a flat top transmission tunnel. In 1969 Rubbery Owen Rostyle wheels replaced the pressed steel wheels,

Most had the optional Overdrive and many cars opted for spoked wheels
