September 15, 2014 - Built for Marie de' Medici who was the widow of King Henry IV who was murdered in 1610. The Palace was designed by the architect Salomon de Brosse who visited Marie de' Medici's home in Florence, Italy the Pitti Palace which served as an inspiration. Constructed from 1615 - 1631. de' Medici was banished by the time the palace was finished and it remained a royal palace until the time of the French Revolution. It currently houses the French Senate. Paris, France.
