Stranger 476 - Kathryn

I walked past the jewellery shop two or three times, looking through the window. There were two young women working there. One had lovely curly hair. Eventually I decided to go in and asking Kathryn if I might take her photo, for my strangers project. There were no customers in the shop, so I asked Kathryn if she would be able to pop out of the shop for a minute, for the portrait.

Kathryn agreed. Her colleague said that they were busy. I said “5 minutes”? She said “we’ve got lots to do, be as quick as possible”.. or something along those lines. I felt a bit bad, taking Kathryn from her work but she seemed very willing and was happy to go with me.

We crossed the road and went into the alley that leads to The Glastonbury Experience Courtyard. I had Kathryn sit down. She told me that she had been in Glastonbury for ten months. She enjoyed working in the shop, she loves the products. It makes it so much easier selling when this is the case.

Kathryn enjoys music and film. She is listening to electronic music at the moment but I can’t remember the name of the artist that she mentioned. She likes classic films, from the ‘40s for example and silent movies.

Kathryn also enjoys photography but has not been practising lately as her camera is broken.

Kathryn thanked me for taking her photo. She was pleased that I had asked her. She was very calm as I pointed the camera toward her. So easy to photograph.

Thank you Kathryn for being part of my project. It was great to meet you today.
