Road through the Salt Pans
My favourite location in Lanzarote. The colours are a combination of volcanic rock, drying salt and iron oxide.
This is the biggest salt refinery Lanzarote and the whole Canary archipelago have to offer, for which reason they were put under nature conservancy.
Originally these saltworks were a natural lagoon that over the years were isolated from the sea by volcanic materials disgorged by the eruptions of the volcanos of the Timanfaya Park.
