• AV rider, not even seeing the words on the road. Why should he? We've all ridden this stretch a bazillion times, and never seen it before.

Note the wheels just up the hill. This AV rider had blown past this road sign, just as I had the first time. I doubled back, in shock, and snapped the picture. He looked back at me quizzically, and I said "did you notice it said 'No Bikes'", he laughed and said "Nope".

    Good shot of this new stenciling.

    Silicon Valley Bike Coalition spoke with Los Altos Hills public works director Richard Chiu and informed him that this stenciling is illegal. Chiu was directed by LAH city council to do this for "safety reasons." We (SVBC) suggested they use "Bikes May Use Full Lane" signage if they're concerned about cyclist safety.
