Rita Crane Photography: Dawn over Albion Bridge, Mendocino County
My last "Postcard from Mendocino" Flickr friends, in this set. I will now turn to responding to your visits and comments. Thanks so much for stopping by! After a time I will return with new photos of Venice and Paris. Ciao for now!!
Description: This is the view taken from a country road near my home. The Pacific marine layer of cool moist air creates a peaceful atmosphere in this part of the country. Like other residents along the west coast of the United States - from San Diego all the way up into Oregon and beyond - those of us who live here enjoy the refreshing sweet air brought in with the fog bank that constantly moves out to sea, or towards the coast, depending on the temperatures inland. Here in coastal Mendocino this mist, combined with the rural character of the county, makes one almost think of Ireland or the coast of Cornwall in England. However, unlike those places it is only green here for a few months during our rainy season. Then as the dry months set in, the hills turn to gold. This photo was taken on a typical morning in April, at dawn, from Albion Ridge.
The fog keeps us cool in summer, and for centuries it has nourished the giant redwoods.
