Rita Crane Photography: Moored Boats, Varenna, Lake Como

[Reposting three photos of Lago di Como here. Scroll down for other two.] [Best on Black.Click on photo!]

This first image is a glimpse of an aspect of the lake that points to its rugged and wild look during winter. Varenna is a delightful former fishing village on the East shore of Lake Como at the base of the Alps. From there you can see Switzerland's snowy peaks to the north. (See the photos posted below.)

Description: It was a chilly afternoon - in early March - and the wind was blowing hard, down from the snowy mountains. These brave little boats were rocking wildly in the choppy water. Late afternoon sunshine warmed up the scene with its golden glow.
