A curious thing... (or, Moonrise over Lake Michigan)
I took these up at Newport State Park on May 4, and, as I was looking through the pictures from that night, I noticed a curious thing: Why is the third shot a different color than the others?
All three of these shots were taken from the same spot, and none of them adjusted in post. I did change the position of the camera a little for the third one, obviously. But, the only other difference between these is the exposure: the left one was 20 seconds at f/8, the center one was 64 seconds at f/11, and the last one was 30 seconds at f/5.6. All were shot at ISO 100. The first shot was at 8:41 p.m., the second at 8:46 p.m., and the third at 9:03 p.m. The white balance and tint settings were identical for all three.
Could the color shift be due solely to the changing position of the moon in the sky, or was the difference in aperture somehow part of it too? Or the shift in the clouds? Very odd.
