Teacher Training at MOCHA
I joined a great teacher training workshop at the Museum of Children’s Arts, to prepare for our Maker Art classes. We learned a range of useful practices for classroom management and design thinking.
This day-long event was hosted by social entrepreneur and innovator Jill Vialet, founder of Playworks -- and an Ashoka Fellow like me. She is starting a new project called Substantial, which aims recruit and train more creative people to sign up as substitutes in our schools.
I support Jill’s vision for transforming education by recruiting and training creative people to work as substitutes. You can read more about her and Substantial on their site:

This first training session brought together current substitute teachers, those interested in becoming substitutes, and substitute teacher managers at MOCHA in downtown Oakland. We all learned a lot from our coaches and each other.
