This was my first time doing a night shoot for a client. They had this amazing triplex in the Upper West Side of Manhattan with killer views and wanted to be able to show off those views in the listing.
This one had a lot going on. I started to shoot before the sky actually got dark so that I would have a bit of green for Central park on the left hand side. Also, this gave me a lot of detail for the buildings as well. I darkened the sky and deepened the blue but wanted to add a bit of transition between the buildings and the sky. So I added that purple streak. At times I really like the purple and other times it's just too prominent. It all depends on my mood for the day.
I ended up using a luminosity mask to mask out the sky. I thought it would make things really easy since it should be a fairly decent contrast but it still required a fair amount of manual selecting. Anyone have any suggestions on relatively quick but accurate selections?
All in all, I was really happy with how this came out and I think it creates a great mood for the listing.
