momentarily coming up for air ...

I've been working on putting a big project together, thought it was going to take off and ended up hitting a major obstacle, instead. I'm going back to the drawing board. In the meantime, though, I started exploring hands -- mine, if that's of any importance -- and have in the process rediscovered the feeling of being an artist that I was missing.

I've put the photographs (12 to date) into a set (slideshow).

jody9, akulis2, lizzie j b, Edlweiss1, and 3 other people added this photo to their favorites.

superb set... many of us must think of hands at some point or another. I know that I have, but a project for which I only have one so far. :P It is good to come up for air... do so again sometime in the near future.

Seen in my contacts' photos. (?)

Robert and Fernando, thank you both for taking some time to look at them and for commenting. I was really surprised at how much is expressed by these gestures and at how that expression is changed by seemingly small alterations to the images (like rotating them 90 or 180 degrees).

I like this one a lot, too, Robert. It has an emotional depth to it and the time I've spent with it has, it would seem, only added to that perception.

Fernando, I think you are right -- it's good to come up for air -- and I'll keep that in mind. It wouldn't do me much good to trade "too much flickr" for "too much isolation," I suppose ...

Thank you, Helen and Clare. I'm just back for a little while, Clare, and then (I hope!) off to work on a bigger project.

Powerful, somewhat disturbing--like trying to put something together that just won't fit yet clearly belongs together. We all have to learn to live with that tension.
