Massandra Palace

This is a picture of Massandra Palace built in the 17 century on the Crimea Peninsula, This Palace was the summer home for many Russian Czars and even later during Communism the leader of USSR would spend summers here. Peter the great and his family actually lived here. There is no real front entrance, there is a passage way to the rear and a wedding cake type entrance for horse and carriage.

Massandra has a vineyard and you can purchase wine called Massandra Wine, I brought a bottle home, it has a picture of the Palace on the label. A very unique wine made from a very small dark grape about the size of a green pea and it makes this wine like nothing I have ever tasted before a complex flavour and texture more wet that other wines. I have visited the Crimea 3 times, what a beautiful land, with mountains, the Black Sea, and incredible people and so much culture and tradition, simply amazing.
