Up th'junction 4
A day off and word reached me that royal train driver and superstar DB train jockey Adrian Nichols was in charge of 4S38. This news prompted me to go to the great effort of making the 300 yard trip to witness his passing.
Whilst observing this relatively new service I also pointed the lens at 2F17.
A year ago a new service started. Operated by DB on behalf of Peel Ports, it conveys boxes between Seaforth (Liverpool) and Coatbridge. The service runs Northbound one day and Southbound the next day. Not surprisingly loadings were light when the train first appeared but as I discovered today that has changed.
66088 leads 4S38 through St Helens Junction at 15.00 (15 early) on Tuesday 9th April 2019.
The loco was smoking heavily despite going well, the service got as far as Milnthorpe before it expired. At the time of posting (19.10) the train was just on the move passing Milnthorpe 127 late.
