Rescue of Raggedy Ann

a How-To e Book is available at:

Photographed with the Downey Fire Department and several volunteers over the course of 12 hours this shot was truly a labor of love. Taking over a year to come to fruition, some shots are harder than others but the reward is a work of art that everybody involved in can take pride in a job well done.

It was my attempt to create a moving and full scene that can pay tribute to the men and women of all the fire departments across America. As some advertising executive once was quoted as saying: "You can sell anything with a pretty girl and a dog!" I used somewhat that same philosophy buy packing my shot with everything but the kitchen sink- little girl and dog included.

Skip over to the close up shot of the little girl to better see what is built into the photo , interestingly, I realize that all this excruciating detail is always there in real life, I ( we photographers ) are only allowing others to glimpse what is hiding in plain sight. I think it is a goal of all of us shooters to help others see what we intuitively understand. The hidden truths residing inside the scene.
