Are you taking design cues from Basecamp?

Hey Hugo. Having only used Basecamp a couple times at school I would say the only thing similar with this iteration and basecamp is the two column layout. Although this is a layout which is certainly isn't unique to Raindrop or Basecamp, it did fit nicely with the fairly unique keyboard navigation we wanted to implement as demonstrated in this video.

As of right now the actual design direction is up in the air, and we are looking for input on new design directions from other designers. This is only one direction we have experimented with.

Could you make it a single column and put the nav at the top? You might differentiate between types of content by flushing left/right/center and/or color-coding as you did in iteration #2. Maybe even playing with some visual cues to focur or blur the secondary information.

Also, maybe breaking out the widgets to float on the bottom could keep them in the periphery without actually pushing them off the screen. Of course, you run the risk of pushing them into the foreground then...

      Thanks for sharing.

      Hey Robert -

Good ideas. We just uploaded a third iteration we've been sketching with for a little bit to the group which is pretty a long the lines of what you were thinking.

Let me know what you think :)

My first thought on the design inspiration was Shaun Inman's Fever application:
