whipped hummus

Hummus is a dip/spread that is made from chickpeas.

 

There are different types of hummus dips, some have a lemon flavor, some have garlic flavoring, and some hummus have a spicy tone with roasted red peppers.

 

Hummus can be prepared in advance up to two days if store in airtight container in the refrigerator but be sure to heat in microwave or on stovetop before serving.

 

It only takes 10 minutes to make!

  

Ingredients:

 

1 can chickpeas/garbanzo beans (15 oz.)

2 tablespoons roasted garlic

1/2 tablespoon lemon juice

1 tablespoon olive oil

1/2 teaspoon oregano

  

Preparation:

 

Add beans, garlic, olive oil, lemon juice and oregano in a food processor

Process until desired consistency

If hummus is too thick, simply add olive oil in small increments (1/2 teaspoon at a time until desired consistency).

 

Garnish roasted garlic hummus with finely chopped parsley

Add hot steamy pita bread and veggies

Roasted red pepper hummus goes very well with warm Italian bread.
