Shot at Brazos Bend State Park near Houston, TX. This is one of the biggest alligators I have ever seen. It had to be close to 10 ft long because the trail is 10 ft wide, and it was easily as long as the trail. I got lucky he opened his mouth when I was on this side of him. You can see how close he was to the trail, and I had to walk within about 12 feet of him to get past. A little nerve racking. It was almost dusk, and I was the last one left on the trail. His jaws were easily a foot wide. Probably has no trouble swallowing its prey.
