Outdoor concert in the time of COVID
San Diego's Mainly Mozart Festival celebrates its 2020 opening night in the fog at the Del Mar fairgrounds. Tailgate parties come to classical music. On the program, appropriately enough, two versions of "The Four Seasons," one by Vivaldi and the other by Piazzolla. Passing cars, and in one instance, a passing fire truck with wailing siren, provided ambience. At the same time, people could check their cell phones to their hearts' delight and not bother anyone. Applause was registered by horn honking. A fun evening, actually, though I won't say no when they return to the concert hall.
