Day 1. There are always more stories to tell (more photos to take)

    Newer Older

Daily selfportraits, giving it a go again. I feel introverted and I need to come out some more. Basically, I miss how 365 allowed me to explore myself, experiment and to be more open. I also hope to challenge myself by trying different things.

This is day 1... of 1 - at the moment ;)

I don't want to commit to something huge as 365 days just now. So I'm just trying it for now. And 52 weeks, for a procrastinator such as myself, is not a good idea either (I usually end up being more lazy as opposed to more into planning, conceptual etc.)

I'll see how far this goes.

I bought this photoalbum a while ago. It's got my film shots in there of Paris, Portugal, New York, San Francisco. I feel so lucky to have traveled so much already in my life, I can only hope for more.

ETA: Oh man, an hour after taking this photo I am really feeling shitty, physically. The hay fever is a real bitch, affecting my asthma this time so I'm in bed with mint tea and some tv. Way to start my selfportraiting series LOL.

I cannot say how much i agree with you – travel is such an enriching, wonderful thing. I wish it upon everyone. I hope there is more in your near future. And mine!

Oh, boooo on hay fever! I have a bout of it every single morning. Not sure why.

I love the idea of all the 365/52 projects out there, but I'm terrible at keeping up with things. I like the way you've started here and can't wait to see more, in whatever form the project takes :)

I always really enjoyed your self portraits, so long may this last! :) And actually I feel exactly the same at the moment - missing the opportunity for reflection and personal growth that 365 offered, as well as connecting with many wonderful people also doing the project. I may return to it some time later in the summer, if the baby's arrival doesn't take up all my mind and my time.

In the meantime, this is a LOVELY shot - fresh and gentle. Your PJ's are cool... :)

It's definitely a goal of mine to make sure I always make time (and save money) for travel. I think my life is so much fuller because of it, and the happiest times of my life include times when I have been traveling. I hope you get to travel more as well :)

      Hello :D

After finishing 365, I really had enough (back in November), but now I feel I need to do this again so I'll try for as long as I can, if I get sick of it again it's my cue to stop. It's not about the daily challenge for me at the moment, it's more about a daily visual journal that I truly miss having. Posting photos of muffins isn't a bad thing but it doesn't make me feel expressive. I do enjoy your self portraits Malcolm, they are honest and personal, so even though you don't take them as often anymore, I am glad you still take them.

I wish this was hayfever now haha. "Noooooo hayfever! Come back and replace this flu! Come baaaaaaaaaaaaaack!!!"
Yeah, I think starting this again with a more open mind (not setting myself up for another 365 days but just seeing how much I need) has been a good way to start, I think I will enjoy this bout of daily self portraits more than when I actually did take 365 portraits.

Thanks! I will try to be a bit more careful to take the time to express myself (no last minute selfies at 11:55 pm), but I am also trying to be less of a perfectionist about it... if that makes sense!

      Aw, thank you :)

Thanks Andy, it's good to be back, for however long it will be.

I hope I can keep it up for at least a while, because getting back in touch with oneself isn't done quickly and easily. You've named another reason why I missed 365: there was more of a connection between people, whether they were all doing it or not. This time though, I hope to connect more with myself.

      Thanks everyone for stopping by!
